Mapulang Lupa Barangay Festival: A Week-Long Celebration of Community and Culture

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

A VIBRANT TRADITION CONTINUES: BARANGAY MAPULANG LUPA TO CELEBRATE THE FEAST OF STO. ROSARIO 2025

A week-long cultural extravaganza promises to unite generations and strengthen community bonds in this beloved annual celebration

In the heart of Valenzuela City, where tradition intertwines with innovation, Barangay Mapulang Lupa is preparing for its most anticipated annual event – the Feast of Sto. Rosario 2025. This year's celebration promises to be a spectacular seven-day cultural showcase from April 20-27, bridging generational divides and honoring the community's rich heritage.

A CELEBRATION WITHOUT BOUNDARIES

"April has always been a month of anticipation and excitement for our community," explains Kyla Kathrine C. Fernandez, SK Chairperson of Barangay Mapulang Lupa. "The Feast of Sto. Rosario isn't just a religious observance – it's become a profound expression of our collective identity and values."

Following last year's tremendous success, the Sangguniang Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan are once again transforming the traditional one-day fiesta into an immersive week-long experience. This bold vision reflects the organizers' commitment to fostering "harmonious relationships throughout our community regardless of our differences" – a core principle that has guided their leadership.

SEVEN DAYS OF COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

The 2025 festivities will feature a carefully curated program of events designed to engage, entertain, and unite approximately 500 participants ranging from 5 to 65 years old:

APRIL 20: HAPAG SA PULANG LUPA SEASON 2 – A cooking competition that celebrates local culinary traditions and innovations.

APRIL 21: LARONG LAHI PUROK EDITION – Traditional Filipino games revitalized for a new generation, organized by neighborhood zones.

APRIL 22: HYDRO COLOR FUN RUN – A vibrant race combining fitness and festivity with bursts of color.

APRIL 22: LARONG LAHI SA PINAKAMALAKING PUROK NG MAPULANG LUPA - P4 – An expanded version of traditional games focused on the largest district of the barangay.

APRIL 22: ZUMBA INDAK SAYA – A community dance fitness event promoting health and camaraderie.

APRIL 25: INTRODUCTION OF YOUTH AMBASSADOR AND AMBASSADRESS OF MAPULANG LUPA 2025 – Showcasing young community leaders who embody the values and vision of Barangay Mapulang Lupa.

APRIL 25: INDAK SAYAW KONTRA DROGA SEASON 2 – A dance competition with an anti-drug advocacy message.

APRIL 27: COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND RECOGNITION – The culminating day features:

Distribution of grocery packages to qualified solo parents and out-of-school youth

Distribution of customized bicycles to qualified college students with small businesses

Awarding of Arko Making & Banderitas Making Competition

Sports gift-giving

Search for Outstanding Youth Achievers

BUILDING ON A LEGACY OF SUCCESS

The decision to extend the celebration reflects a deeper understanding of what community events can achieve. "A one-day celebration simply isn't enough to honor our traditions and strengthen the bonds between neighbors," notes Chairperson Fernandez. "Each additional day allows us to reach more people and create lasting memories across generations."

Last year's expanded format proved tremendously successful, engaging hundreds of residents and creating a newfound sense of pride and belonging. This year's program builds on that foundation with enhanced activities and broader outreach.

A CALL FOR PARTNERSHIP

To ensure the success of this ambitious community initiative, the organizers are seeking social media advertisement support throughout the seven-day celebration. These partnerships are crucial for reaching the widest possible audience and documenting the events for posterity.

"Your involvement isn't just about promoting an event," explains Chairperson Fernandez. "It's about preserving our cultural heritage, supporting sustainable community programs, and amplifying our vision of compassion and commitment. Together, we can create a celebration that truly has no boundaries."

The Game of Truth, Creativity, and Responsibility in the Digital Age

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Success isn’t always a straight line—it’s often a wiggly, electrified wire, like the ones you see at local fairs. One wrong move, and you “buzz” out. But if you’re lucky—and focused—you just might win a prize. And if that prize includes a crispy piece of lumpia along the way? Count us in.

But in this wild game of content creation, there’s more at stake than likes, views, or viral fame. In the age of disinformation and digital overload, creators aren’t just entertainers or influencers—they’re the new umalohokan, the modern-day heralds of truth.

So how do we sumakses (succeed) as creators while staying true to what’s real, critical, and responsible?

Let’s break it down—with a side of humor, a dash of drama, and a big scoop of reality.

1. Step by the Step

Take it one step at a time.

Success doesn’t happen overnight. Whether you're a new blogger, a seasoned vlogger, or a niche content creator, the path is paved one post, one pitch, one story at a time.

Take each step mindfully. Celebrate the little wins—like your first reader comment, your first collab, or your first viral meme that didn’t involve dancing in your pajamas.

In this game, every move matters.

2. Sa Lumpia — Find Your Flavor

Lumpia isn't just a snack—it's a metaphor for what makes you, you. What’s your niche? Food? Fashion? Politics? Puns?

Find your flavor, your lasa, and serve it fresh and authentically. Don’t be a copycat content mill. People crave honesty more than polished perfection.

Being original isn’t easy—but it’s tastier.

3. Without Touching the Wire

Avoid the noise. Stay steady.

The “wire” is all the noise: trolls, drama, burnout, fake news, imposter syndrome, cancel culture.

Stay focused. Stay grounded. Avoid the trap of chasing clout over clarity. Don’t spread information you haven’t verified just for the sake of being first.

Your credibility is your wire. One false buzz, and it could cost you everything.

4. The Longer You Last, the Better the Prize

Stay consistent. Success takes time.

Longevity matters. Building trust, value, and audience loyalty takes time. It’s not about trending once—it’s about staying relevant without selling out.

Consistency is your superpower. The longer you last—truthfully, responsibly, passionately—the better the rewards. Not just in followers, but in influence that actually matters.

5. Makikita Mong Bigla Kang Sumakses!

One day you’ll see—you made it!

It hits you one day. After all the posts, the sleepless nights, the inner doubts—you realize: people are listening. You’ve made an impact.

Not because you followed trends, but because you stayed true to yourself, your craft, and your truth.

And that, dear creator, is the biggest prize of all.

The Modern Umalohokan: Truth-Tellers in a Digital World

But what’s success without purpose?

On April 13, 2025, creators, advocates, and truth warriors will gather at UMALOHOKAN: Para sa Kaalaman, Kalikasan, at Kinabukasan, a movement led Ross Flores Del Rosario of Wazzup Pilipinas, that calls on content creators to become defenders of truth and champions of sustainability.

Long before social media, the Umalohokan were our town criers—heralds of truth, bearers of critical news, protectors of the people. Today, their spirit lives on in those who use their platforms not for personal gain—but for public good.

The Event Will Feature:

Pocholo “The Voicemaster” Gonzales: Igniting voices with purpose.

Ellen Tordesillas of VERA Files: Unmasking fake news with sharp facts.

Chino Penserga (PPCRV) and Atty. Ryan Jay Roset (LENTE Philippines): Leading the charge on electoral integrity and voter empowerment.

Digital personalities like Jenny Medenillla of The Transport Queen, and Nestor Lim of News Media Nest on surviving (and thriving) amidst disinformation.

Environmental warriors like Jayson Noveda of EcoWaste Coalition, Antonio Dizon of BAN Toxics, Engr. Eric Raymundo of Bayanihan Para Sa Kalikasan Movement, and Eman Balani of Alkarock Gift of Nature battling for a livable planet.

Keynote by David D’Angelo of the Green Party of the Philippines will ignite minds and move hearts.

Ross Flores Del Rosario, the founder of Wazzup Pilipinas and the visionary behind the Umalohokan Workshops, will finalize with a covenant signing to encourage everyone to solidify the common goal for truth and responsibility.

We believe that in the age of disinformation, everyone has a duty to side with the truth eventhough there's too much confusing noise out there on both social media and the real world

This is Not a Talk—It’s a Turning Point

UMALOHOKAN is not a seminar. It’s a resistance.

It’s a battle against digital deception, climate indifference, and voter disengagement.

It’s a training ground for thinkers, not reactors. For questioners, not blind followers. For responsible sharers, not reckless spreaders.

It’s where creators become truth-tellers, and content becomes catalyst.

A Final Word to Fellow Creators

Don’t just chase the buzz. Be the signal.

Fact-check before you post. Think before you share. Engage before you enrage.

Because in a world full of noise, the most powerful voice—is the one that tells the truth.

“The longer you last, the better the prize.”

But let that prize be more than fame. Let it be impact, integrity, and influence with purpose.

“Paano ba sumakses?”

Success is just like this lumpia wire game — one steady step at a time, without letting distractions throw you off.

Keep creating. Keep showing up. Keep thinking critically.

How Ross Del Rosario Turned a Blog Into a Movement for Truth and Empowerment

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The Voice of the People, the Pulse of the Nation

In a digital world overflowing with noise and fleeting headlines, one man dares to stand tall — not just as a content creator, but as a crusader of truth. Ross Flores Del Rosario is not merely the founder of Wazzup Pilipinas, one of the Philippines’ most influential online news portals, but also the visionary behind the transformative Umalohokan Workshops, shaping a new breed of media storytellers with purpose and integrity.

The Birth of a Dream

Like many Filipinos, Ross began with a modest dream. At a time when social media was still in its infancy and traditional media held a monopoly on the narrative, he envisioned a platform where unheard Filipino stories could find their spotlight.

"Back then, if you didn’t have a name or connection, your story would be silenced," Ross recalled in a candid interview. "I wanted to create a space where ordinary Filipinos could finally be heard."

And so, with heart, grit, and vision, Wazzup Pilipinas was born — a blog that grew into a digital movement, now one of the most powerful and credible platforms in Philippine online journalism.

Wazzup Pilipinas: Championing the People's Stories

What sets Wazzup Pilipinas apart from other news outlets is its undying commitment to stories that matter to the masses — tales that often slip through the cracks of mainstream media. Whether it’s the viral rise of “Aling Nena’s Bibingka” on TikTok or the quiet heroism of community pantry organizers during the pandemic, Ross makes sure these stories shine.

During the peak of the COVID-19 crisis, while fear and uncertainty gripped the nation, Wazzup Pilipinas showcased the humanity of Filipinos — highlighting community efforts like Ana Patricia Non’s Maginhawa Street pantry that sparked a nationwide movement of hope.

"We don’t just report. We remind people that there’s always hope, even in the darkest hours," Ross declared.

Umalohokan Workshops: Forging the Future of Communication

Ross’s advocacy didn’t stop at journalism. Understanding the power of education and the importance of responsible media practice, he established the Umalohokan Workshops — named after the ancient Filipino town criers who once carried vital messages to the community.

In today's world, Ross believes the role of a modern umalohokan is more vital than ever.

"Social media isn't just for selfies and trends. It's a powerful tool for change," he emphasized during a graduation ceremony for the workshop participants.

Through these workshops, he trains young communicators to rise above misinformation and disinformation — urging them to wield truth like a weapon in an era dominated by fake news.

The Relentless War Against Fake News

In every election, every national crisis, every viral scandal — Ross and his Wazzup Pilipinas team rise to the occasion, providing a fortress of facts in the battleground of falsehoods.

"Social media has become the battlefield of truth," Ross warned. "And we must choose to be on the side of honesty, no matter how unpopular it is."

From the tensions in the West Philippine Sea to controversies surrounding massive infrastructure projects like "Build Better More," Wazzup Pilipinas continues to deliver fearless, facts-first journalism.

From Headlines to Humanitarian Work

But Ross doesn’t stop at storytelling. In times of disaster, he leads by example — on the ground, helping victims, mobilizing support, and connecting hearts.

During Typhoon Ulysses in 2020 and the Taal Volcano eruption, Wazzup Pilipinas was instrumental in organizing aid and raising awareness. Beyond being reporters, Ross and his team became lifelines.

"It’s our job to inform — but it’s our duty as Filipinos to help," he said, voice firm with resolve.

Rising to the Challenges of the Digital Era

As technology evolves, so does Ross. He now delves into the world of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, determined to keep the Filipino at the forefront of innovation.

"We can't afford to be left behind. We must be part of the global conversation," Ross asserts.

In his workshops, he teaches students how apps like Grab and Foodpanda reflect the changing Filipino lifestyle — and how technology, if used right, can be a tool for empowerment and progress.

The Indomitable Filipino Spirit

For Ross, the strength of the Filipino lies not in wealth or fame, but in resilience — the unwavering determination to thrive despite the odds.

"Just look at the stories that go viral — vendors turning into social media stars, students walking miles just to attend school. That’s the Filipino spirit," he shared with pride.

Because of this, Wazzup Pilipinas has a special section dedicated to inspirational stories — celebrating the unsung heroes of everyday life.

The Future of Filipino Media

As the media landscape shifts rapidly, Ross remains hopeful and grounded.

"There will always be challenges, but also opportunities," he said. "What matters most is staying true to the mission — to give voice to the voiceless, and truth to the misinformed."

In an age where media is often accused of losing its soul, Ross Flores Del Rosario remains a steadfast beacon — not just reporting on change, but becoming the very force that drives it.

Through every Wazzup Pilipinas headline, through every student molded in the Umalohokan Workshops, Ross proves that journalism is not just a career. It’s a calling. A duty. A fire that burns for truth, justice, and hope.

And as the Philippines continues to find its place on the global stage, Ross Flores Del Rosario stands as one of its modern-day heroes — guiding us toward a future lit by the light of genuine Filipino storytelling.

Wazzup Pilipinas — where stories rise, truth lives, and the Filipino voice echoes louder than ever.
