Student Coordinating Council of FEU Institute of Technology Presents Techno Fest and iTamNight

On April 27 - 30 2015, the Student Coordinating Council of FEU Institute of Technology had its annual technology festival (Techno Fest) at the FEU Tech Student Plaza and a big concert(iTamNight) tonight, April 30.

iTam Techno Fest was envisioned to update the students regarding the latest technology in the industry at the same time to entertain them thru mini – games. It will boost enthusiasm of the students through exhibits in technology that will make them visualize innovative ideas that will significantly contribute in nation building. 

The five missions of iTam Techno Fest are the following:

• To update Far Eastern University Institute of Technology students with the latest trends in Engineering and Information Technology.
• To boost the enthusiasm of the students to pursue Engineering and IT courses
• To express gratitude to the students who gave honour to the College
• To create an avenue for the students to learn while enjoying from the different exhibits of the Industry Partners and from the best student projects
• To provide entertainment to the whole Far Eastern University Institute of Technology community

To culminate the whole week is the iTam Night happening on April 30 starting from 4 pm and will be held at the FERN Realty Grounds (across FEU Tech FIT Building).  It aims to provide entertainment to the students through different artists’ performances and intermission numbers from FEU's very own students.

Queerspotting: A Safe Space to Break Free

“Lesbians are short-haired plaid-wearing abused-as-kids atheists who hate men.” 

This kind of accusation has already been so used and abused so much that we don’t even know how to begin deconstructing it. For one, not all lesbians are short-haired. There are those who wear skirts, dresses, and don high heels. Sexuality isn’t a matter of what one’s religion is. In fact, queer women subscribe to different religions, whether or not they choose to believe in one.

Lesbian, bisexual, queer, pansexual, asexual, transgender – there’s a whole spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity for every woman. It’s a matter of respecting how one identifies as, and who prefers whom.

Name calling is just a small part of the different struggles that LGBTQ people have faced in years. While the Philippines has been touted as a “gay-friendly” country, tolerance just isn’t enough.

Let’s break free from such stereotypes, shall we?
