El Gamma Penumbra Wins at Asia's Got Talent as Seen on AXN Special Viewing Party

Congratulations to El Gamma Penumbra for winning the very first Asia's Got Talent grand prize. The top winners based on Asia's vote were slowly revealed as the hosts announced while everyone was in suspense. Our three other Filipino finalists that were part of the 9 finalists also made us proud by hanging on until the second to the last elimination where Gerphil Flores made it to top three, followed by Junior New System who got eliminated early on, while Gwyneth Dorado was not part of the initial cut to top 6.

However, news about a leaked result reached me while the Grand Finals Results show was just starting. We were invited by AXN to a special viewing at Hyve located at the 8th floor of W Global Center building in Bonifacio Global City. I thought I would be thrilled to find out who won, but the excitement quickly faded after I learned of the winner from the leak.

Though I am happy that El Gamma Penumbra, being my fellow Filipinos, I lost the thrill of finding out who will win. Imagine finding out the winner ahead of all the elimination as they slowly reached the final top two.

Whoever spread the leak should be reprimanded since they took away our excitement.

UPJMA's West Palm Pool Party Post-Event Write-Up

It’s that time of the year again; it’s the peak of summer, and everyone’s out and about… or at the very least, wants to be. Usually what comes to mind around this time are scorching hot sunrays, white sand, blue bikinis, and red convertibles getting set up for spontaneous roadtrips, just like the commercials. Pastels aren’t the usual summer motif but they seemed to work for West Palm, UP JMA’s publicity event for this semester.

West Palm took place in New World Hotel by Manila Bay last May 9. The event gave guests an afternoon to sit back, relax and be pampered by the JMA event planners. At around 1:00pm, guests started trickling in in sandals, colorful outfits and floppy hats and/or shades. Upon entry, one would be met with a wooden photo wall where guests could have their photo taken either by a photographer, with their own phone, or by the JMAer that was going around taking Instaxes. After having their photo taken, the guests could enter the rooftop poolside proper.

The venue was quaintly decorated. The poolside was filled with baby pink hot air balloons hanging on tables, along with DIY centerpieces decorated with photos from past JMA events – a bit of a getting-to-know-you display for the organization, if you will. A small stage was set up for the musical performance that kickstarted the event.
