FEU filmmakers make it to Binisaya Film Festival 2026

Wazzup Pilipinas?!

Two student films from Far Eastern University have been officially selected to the 16th BINISAYA International Film Festival. This follows their respective premieres in the All Tamaraws Division of Sinepiyu XVIII: DIWA “Mula sa Lente ng Katauhan” last May.

“Ani” and “Where the Cave Ends” are now part of the growing list of short films from the FEU Department of Communication which made it to film festivals outside the university.

The BINISAYA Film Festival, scheduled to take place in Cebu City from August 16 to 23, continues its long-standing tradition of showcasing independent stories free from commercial constraints.

Both films will screen under the festival’s BINISAYA Horizons category, a section specifically dedicated to non-Cebuano works from across the Philippines.

Written and directed by Ayessa Tan and produced under Braindead Kidz Productions, “Ani” sets its story against the backdrop of an alternate reality. The narrative centers on a struggling farmer who finds his personal morals pushed to the limit when an influential trader manipulates him into turning against his fellow farmers.

The film recently brought home several awards at Sinepiyu XVIII, including 3rd Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Production Design, and Best Supporting Actor for Vic Romano as Iko.

Tan shared that reaching this platform is more than just a creative victory for her team. Reflecting on the film's recognition, she shared that it stands as a deeply personal homage to her mother.

Meanwhile, “Where the Cave Ends” dives into an atmospheric, high-stakes investigation. Written and directed by Nix Vergara and produced by Precious Vargas for Sineninix. with Shepherd Pictures, Salinsining, Project V Media, and P.tik Bulag Films, the plot follows Jim (played by Andre Miguel), a journalist who ventures deep into a cave to uncover the truth about a local Babaylan.

The media points to the figure as the main culprit behind a military colonel’s sudden disappearance in the region. As Jim navigates the shadows, his search leads him toward a truth far more transformative than he anticipated.

Joining Miguel are Karl Medina as Natoy, Rachel Du as Leia, and MJ Managuelod, Serena Magiliw, and Jacq Nacu-Garcia as the Babaylan.

Established in 2009 by a collective of local filmmakers, BINISAYA serves as a crucial platform for regional storytelling, dynamic discussions, and independent global cinema.

By bringing together voices from across the archipelago, this year’s edition continues to highlight how student filmmaking bridges local perspectives with broader national audiences.

The Farm at San Benito Joins Marriott’s Autograph Collection Hotels as the First-Ever Property in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

For more than two decades, The Farm at San Benito has been recognized as a world-renowned wellness sanctuary in the Philippines, just 90 minutes away from Manila. It is a destination loved by travelers all over the globe for its holistic approach to healing, mindful living, and transformative programs. Now, the award-winning resort marks a milestone as it officially becomes the first property in the Philippines to join Marriott International’s Autograph Collection.

Autograph Collection is one of Marriott International's most celebrated portfolios. It is a curated family of independent hotels handpicked for their unique story, design, and sense of place, each true to the brand promise of being "Exactly Like Nothing Else." For The Farm, joining this global collection means expanding its reach in wellness tourism while preserving the soul, individuality, and sanctuary spirit that made it beloved to begin with. Both first-timers and returning visitors can look forward to enhanced in-room amenities, greater accessibility and inclusivity throughout the property, and seamless digital integration through Marriott Bonvoy, from bookings to rewards and stay benefits.

Every Autograph Collection hotel highlights an “Autograph Moment,” a signature landmark that reflects its identity that can’t be found anywhere else. For The Farm, it’s the 300-year-old Mango Tree, standing majestically at the heart of the resort, a symbol of healing, grounding, and connection to nature. Revered as the resort’s energy vortex, the iconic tree has inspired countless stories that continue to anchor the resort’s tranquil atmosphere.

True to its commitment to nurturing growth, The Farm pays close attention to guests' evolving interests and prioritization of health and well-being. This begins with 70 exclusive villas, intentionally designed for relaxation and privacy, blending the beauty of nature with Filipino art, culture, and heritage. The accommodations range from the rustic Sulu Terrace, the nature-inspired Palmera Suites, Waterglass Villas, and Garden Glass Villas, to the more exclusive picks like the Narra Pool Villas, Mahogany Pool Residences, and the expansive Isla Royal Villa, among many others.

Travelers can also find areas that invite recuperation, such as the restful lounges, meditation spots, like The Labyrinth, and pools and man-made falls. Families, too, are welcome at this destination, especially with the opening of a newly built playground that lets kids play and experience nature. There are also complimentary wellness activities for staying guests, such as nature walks, yoga sessions, and food preparation classes led by the resident chef.

The Farm’s holistic approach to healing can also be tasted in its dining selections, now elevated through its integration into the Autograph Collection. Here, fresh ingredients are sourced from an in-house 5,700-square-meter organic garden and are transformed into nourishing farm-to-table cuisine.

ALIVE! is The Farm’s signature vegan restaurant that offers nutrient-rich whole foods, perfect for those who are more intentional about clean eating without sacrificing taste. PESCE highlights pescetarian cuisine celebrating longevity-focused ingredients and sustainably sourced seafood. Prana is for those craving Indian cuisine and vegetarian dishes. For a fine-dining option, The Farm features Soufflé de Vie, offering sophisticated French cuisine. The Upperdeck Pool Side Bar brings a relaxed al fresco experience featuring fresh greens, grilled fish, free-range chicken, and grains. A kid-friendly menu is available at ALIVE!, PESCE, and The Upperdeck as well, opening up The Farm’s healthy food selection for family guests.

Complementing these dining concepts are personalized health programs, detox treatments, spa services, and integrative healing experiences at the Healing Sanctuary at The Farm. The advanced medical equipment and processes are designed to support guests on their individual journeys, targeting not just one aspect of wellness but approaching it holistically.

"Joining Marriott International's Autograph Collection is an important step forward for The Farm. While this milestone allows us to expand our worldwide reach, our focus remains the same: to create meaningful wellness-centered stays that inspire transformation and leave a lasting impact. We do this with The Farm’s remarkable charm that our loyal guests love, enhanced by Marriott International standards that will propel us to even greater heights," said Giuliano Callegaro, General Manager of The Farm at San Benito, as he talked about the ongoing strategic enhancements and soft renovations being done to improve The Farm’s amenities and services.

As The Farm at San Benito enters an exciting new era as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, guests are invited to immerse themselves in a distinctive experience that nurtures the mind, body, and soul.
