For over five decades, Nemiranda has carved an extraordinary path through the Philippine art landscape. Eschewing the need for live models, photographs, or direct physical references, his genius relies entirely on memory, emotion, and an unbridled wellspring of internal vision. "I looked at people, I try to imagine them, and draw them from memory. I never use pictures because I hate pictures," the master once reflected. "What you see in my painting is the product of my soul."

A Legacy Woven from Myth and Memory

Born in 1949, Nemiranda’s artistic awakening began early. By the age of five, he was already drawing, deeply inspired by the pioneering comic illustrations of Francisco Coching and the monumental murals of his illustrious townsman, National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco. This rich foundation eventually led him to the University of Santo Tomas, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 1970.

Throughout his storied career, Nemiranda has mounted more than a hundred solo exhibitions globally and cemented his place as a cultural icon. His towering contributions stretch far beyond canvas frames:
