Filipino actor Kaloy Estrella has officially wrapped up his training in “The Masters Series: FDCP Acting Workshop for Filipino Talents 2026.”

Spearheaded by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the intensive program brought together selected performers to refine their craft under the direct mentorship of acclaimed industry veterans Jose Javier Reyes, Laurice Guillen, and Joel Lamangan.

For Estrella, a Communication alumnus from Far Eastern University, completing the workshop marks a significant landmark in a career built on deliberate discipline and steady work across multiple mediums.

Reflecting on what the experience meant to him, Estrella highlighted how closely the training aligned with his performance philosophy, “One thing I’ve always heard in theater is, ‘Be in the moment.’ Right now, I honestly don’t know what I’m feeling. Everything still feels surreal. But this is the first time I’ve really felt that just showing up can create something truly magical.”

Long before stepping into the FDCP masterclass, Estrella built a strong foundation through live theater. His stage credits include portraying Basilio, Estudyante, and Binatang Ibarra in Gantimpala Theater Productions and Artist Playground’s “Noli Me Tangere: Kaming mga Nangalagas sa Dilim ng Gabi,” and Batang Florante in “Florante at Laura.” He has also been a steady presence in musical productions, appearing in “Mga Awit ng Ibong Adarna,” “Jeproks: The Musical,” “Dear OWWA,” and “Mali ba ang Mangarap sa Mundong Puno ng Takot? Mali!”

His theatrical background enabled a smooth transition into independent cinema and student films from different schools. Estrella took on the role of Rimo in the Sine Kabataan entry “Pantog” and led Patrick Pangan’s “Bagito” under the Mowelfund Film Institute.

Estrella recently headlined “Pabalik-balik” for the University of the Philippines Film Institute and “Eskinita” for National University Laguna, adding to a rich portfolio of short films for De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna, Asia Pacific College, and UST Angelicum College.

Estrella’s range eventually opened doors in mainstream television, where he played Minyong in GMA’s historical series “Pulang Araw” starring Alden Richards.

Parallel to his television work, he has appeared in major commercials for brands like Burger King, Efficascent Oil, and Arthaland, as well as starring in music videos including Benj Pangilinan’s “Love, That’s Rare” and CHRSTN’s “Paksa.”

With the FDCP Master Series now complete, Estrella emerges with refined technical tools and a clear direction, positioning him as an actor to watch as he enters his next creative phase.
